How to turn Prosecco corks into a fairy woodland play scene

I love a bit of recycling (and drinking bubbles!) so this is a perfect repurposing of some things we had lying around at home. It's always a bit magical when you can turn trash into treasure and give it a whole new perspective.

This one is so easy I just have a before and after to show you. Here's what you need:

• A handful of champagne or prosecco corks - these work best as they have a mushroom or toadstool type shape
• Acrylic paint or acrylic pens - they need to be permanent

Here's how to turn your corks into toadstools...

Simply take some white acrylic paint and paint the bottom part of the cork. Then take some red and once the white is dried paint the top part. When they are both fully dry, dot the red portion with some white paint or pens and you're done! Repeat with as many corks as you have.

Then it's up to you how you play. You could make up a game where you have to see how many you can stack on top of each other. Or you can add to a play tray with some beans or rice to make it a sensory wonderland. I love adding woodland animals to my set ups!

And as you can see both the little kid and the big kid loved it! Sensory play isn't just for toddlers (my two are 3 and 8)
