How to make a magical winter pine tree forest out of scrap toilet roll tubes

Not strictly a Christmas craft activity but I'm not saying you couldn't easily make it into one!

Here's a super easy recycled cardboard tube activity you can do with your kids this autumn and winter. All you need is:

• A few cardboard tubes from toilet roll or kitchen towel
• Some pens or paint
• Scissors

Heres what you have to do:

First take a tube and squash it flat. Then either freehand cut into it in a zig zag pattern or draw a tree shape in pencil to cut around. You want to make sure that you don't join the cuts up - leave the pointy bits of each 'branch' together so you're finished tree doesn't fall apart.

Next colour or paint your tree a nice evergreen colour. I used a few different marker pen shades to make it look like the pine needles.

Don't forget to colour the trunk and the ground. And add some snow with a white pen or paint to the edges of the branches.

Gently squeeze the roll back into a round/3D shape and your tree should stand up.

You can also add a few Christmas decorations if you would like to make your forest festive!

And of course you can then add them to your play set up to make some wintery forest fun like you see here with these brown bears!
